McKnight Soccer has 6 different divisions to ensure that your child has an opportunity to play with their own peers and enjoy the game for the challenge that best supports them. From U4 (Under 4 years old) to U14 (under 14 years old),

U4

The U4 age group is for children who are 3 or 4 years old as of January 1st of the current year. Parents also have the option of placing their 4 year old child in the U6 age group.

U4 games are conducted across a rink-sized field at Cambrian Community Field or North Haven School Field. U4 Division normally plays from 6:15pm – 7:00pm Tuesday and Thursday.

Games are 45 minutes and roughly broken into two components: approximately 15 minute practice then 30 minute game. The practice session is conducted on 1/2 of the game field followed by the game on the full field. Small portable nets are used. U4 games are generally 3 v. 3 or 4 v. 4 depending on the number of players per team.

The goal is to ensure that each player has fun and roughly equal playing time; translated into equal opportunity to touch the ball in a game setting and a minimum of time waiting on the sidelines.

U6

The U6 age group is for children who are 4 or 5 years old as of January 1st of the current year. Parents also have the option of placing their 4 year old child in the U4 age group.

U6 games are conducted across a rink-sized field at Cambrian Community Field or North Haven School Field. U6 Division normally plays from 6:15pm – 7:00pm Tuesday and Thursday.

Games are one hour and roughly broken into two even components: approximately 30 minute practice then 30 minute game. The practice session is conducted on 1/2 of the game field followed by the game on the full field. Small portable nets are used. U6 games are generally 4 vs. 4 or 5 vs. 5 depending on the number of players per team.

The goal is to ensure that each player has fun and roughly equal playing time; translated into equal opportunity to touch the ball in a game setting and a minimum of time waiting on the sidelines. Time is stopped every 2-3 minutes for substitution

U8

The U8 age group is for children who are 6 or 7 years old as of January 1st of the current year.

U8 games are played on the full sized rinks at North Haven School field or Cambrian Heights Community Association field. U8 Division normally plays from 6:30pm – 7:30pm Tuesday and Thursday.

Games are generally 5 v. 5, depending on team sizes. The one hour time slots are typically broken into two components: approximately 15 minute practice then a 45 minute game. The practice session is conducted on 1/2 of the game field followed by the game on the full field.

U10

The U10 age group is for children who are 8 or 9 years old as of January 1st of the current year.

The U10 games are played on the North Haven School field or Cambrian Heights Community Association field. U10 Division plays 6:30pm – 7:30pm Tuesday and Thursday.

Games are generally 5 v. 5, depending on team sizes and are played using approximately 3/4 of the field of play between the permanent steel goals. The one hour time slots are typically broken into two components: approximately 15 minute practice then a 45 minute game followed by the game on the full field.

The goal is to ensure that each player has fun and roughly equal playing time; translated into equal opportunity to touch the ball in a game setting and a minimum of time waiting on the sidelines.Time is stopped every 4 – 5 minutes for substitutions.

U12/14

The U12 – U14 age group is for children who are 10 to 13 years old as of January 1st of the current year.

The U12 – U14 games are played at Buchanan School in 2025. (Other years we have played at the Colonel Irvine School field and hope to return there in 2026). U12-U14 Division normally plays 7:00pm – 8:00pm Tuesday and Thursday.

Games are generally 11 vs. 11, depending on team sizes and are played using the full soccer field. The one hour time slots are typically broken into two components: approximately 5 -10 minute warmup practice then a 50 – 55 minute game.

At the end of the season, there is a semi-final game on the last Tuesday and a final playoff championship game at the wind-up party.
